First Peoples Principles of Learning

SIGNIFICANCE

The First Peoples Principles of Learning is a set of values and beliefs that have been passed down as principles to help those learn and acknowledge Indigenous ways of teaching. These principals help teachers, and students, understand the importance of learning through an Indigenous aspect (view). The FPPoL is a set of 9 principles that explains the process of learning and how there are various aspects of the process which we must understand as teachers and as learners. These principles are designed to support and offer encouraging values directed towards education. This is also a way of working towards Indigenous reconciliation, by acknowledging Indigenous teachings we are acknowledging Indigenous culture and how its influence brings a great deal of importance into today’s society.
